Welcome to the launch of our new online home, Westchesterskiers.org.

Our humble site is the culmination of many months of vision and planning. All that so we could give the skiers, snowboarders, and other snow sports lovers of Westchester County and surrounding areas a place to congregate, plan, and take advantage of the benefits afforded to groups by resorts around the country.

First and foremost, though, we want to have fun skiing. We're going to do everything possible to promote the enjoyment of our beloved sports.

Westchester Skiers & Riders ("WSR") was established in the 2003/04 season with the distinct purpose of getting people together at the last moment to take advantage of snow days and weekends were there was nothing to do but hit the mountains. From there we grew, first to over 100 people in a several seasons, then to over 350 as we acquired a similar group in New Jersey. Since our start, we've changed, improved, pared down and branched out. And in that time, WSR has unfurled its flag from resorts in the Catskills to Colorado.

Now, on Westchesterskiers.org, we're doing something few or no ski clubs are doing. We're going to grow with a completely online membership, using a social website that allows members to connect and enjoy skiing and riding in ways they never have before. You'll be able to create your own member profile. Connect with others in the group. Form your own mini-trips. And do some easy and convenient sign-ups for bigger trips of your choice.

This is going to be great.

Westchester County is the second most prestigious county in New York State. The seventh such in the United States. You could be sure were going to develop WSR as a premier brand in snow sports affiliation groups. Skiers and riders of every level are welcome.

With that, our Meetup.com site will soon come to a close. All the members from our site are encouraged to join our new home where the benefits will be greater and the enjoyment more intense.

See you on the slopes,

 1.     Go late. Sure, it sounds counterintuitive to getting some skiing in. But avoiding the morning crowds at the lift booth and rental counter may give you more sleep time in…

You’ve skied Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont, and you’ve skied New England. Right?…
